We recently came across this article describing just how little progress the state of Texas has made in electronic recycling efforts. As you’d imagine, we’re extremely frustrated to see this report.
According to the article, e-waste recycling has declined state-wide for the first time in three years. Additionally, cities and counties are finding public education around electronic recycling and local programs to be more than difficult. This is something we certainly can relate to.
While the Texas Commision on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) adopted rules implementing the Texas TakeBack program, which requires retailers to take back old TVs and recycle them responsibly, we’re not sure this is enough.
There is good news though! With certified companies like ours that NEVER landfill, we can help increase electronic recycling efforts locally! Be sure to take a look at our events schedule and on-site drop off hours to find out when and where you can recycle your electronic waste!
